RIP Charlie dog 04/02/2011
Well girl your boy is with you again, sadly he lost his battle and fell asleep, he could not fight his illness any longer and thought it would be better to join you in doggy heaven, look after him girl, he needs you, he is old now.
All his things are still in the hallway, his bed and bowls are sat next to Diga, his coat still hangs proud on the readiator, it is as if time just stood still in that corner.
We hear him girl everyday, we open the door and he runs down the stairs and bangs his bell on the wood, he knows he isnt allowed upstairs, but we hear him girl.
Look after my Charlie Chocolate girl, love mummy & daddy xxxxxxxxx
RIP Rhianon 12/9/8 we love you!
Rhianon smile was a Greyhound, racing for 6 years, But just before that Rhianon smile started to loose every race she had so her owner started to beat her for it. Luckily the RSPCA saved her and took her in for one of their own. 3 mounths went by and family brought in Rhianon as family, however it wassnt a nice family. Rhianon was beening beaten much harder than her old owner. RSPCA took her in again because of this and prosecuted them.
eventually we brought Rhianon in properly and she lived with us.
Rhianon's been millions of places such as;
Camping in scarbrough
Camping in Harrogate
Camping in Morecambe
Camping in Blackpool
Kent
any many more
Rhianon's past year was her best ever, she was loved, she explored, she went hunting (missed every time),
*August 2006* it was a lovly day throw the morning thought to the evening but then just after 8:30pm Rhianon went missing?! we had a massive search but it narrowed it down to the graveyard. it was close to 10 we still had no idea where she was. Stephen was on guard at beggining on church. Keeley Sleeping like a baby, Caitlin Almost crying like a baby, Mark and Sindy turning the world upside down looking for her, 10:20pm we called for Pat because she always walked her their. just after 10:25 Pat had hold of Rhianon collar, she was at the edge of the graveyard.
We had adventures like that allthought 2007 and half on 2008.
Rhianon last little adventure was on 12/9/8;
Rhianon wanted to explore the world, 2:50pm she managed to get down the road just before 3pm, Rhianon attempted to cross the road when a hit and run driver smacked her at 3pm. That was her last ever adventure.
We love you Rhianon
THE DOGS WHO HAVE SHARED OUR LIVES
The dogs who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a barking at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometime, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.

A Greyhound's Prayer
The greatest thing I've ever known,
Someone came and took me home.
I'm away from the track; hope I never go back!
Like a nightmare in my memory, my future looked black.
Then I was adopted and my life was spared.
I thank God everyday that someone cared.
This must be heaven, I'm a winner this time,
Got a ball, a bone, and a bed that's all mine.
I'm crazy about my family;
Devoted you might say.
Like a shadow beside them,
You bet I want to stay.
I'm special too, they call me "sweetheart",
They hug me and kiss me and tell me I'm smart.
Even dreams are more peaceful; no stress, no strife,
Now I run for fun and not for my life.

In Loving Memory of Emerald's Maximum Raider CGC, AKA Max
I never meant you to be
Dog of My Heart
But without speech you spoke to me.
Without hands you touched me.
Without reproach you humbled me.
And while I know there would have never been
A long-enough life, or the right time to say goodbye,
I will wait, however long it takes,
To get beyond my miserable state of grief and pain,
Towards warm and comforting
Remembrance
And gratitude,
for the Joy you brought me,
for the truths you taught me.
I never meant you to be
Dog of My Heart.
I only meant for you to mean as much.
But you meant
So much more.

in remembrance
this tribute is a canine prayer
for gentle greyhounds everywhere
those cast aside, the waifs, the strays
who have not known love for all their days
those abused,abandoned too
the beaten-still forever true
the cowed, the lost,unwanted hounds
awaiting life,or death in pounds
our hearts go out to every one
from loved and true companions...
to those who crave an owners touch
and need our love so very much
and as we speak these heartfelt words
PLEASE GOD JUST LET OUR PRAYERS BE HEARD .

Charlie
Rhiannon time has passed so quickly, your collar is still on the side in the kitchen, sometimes its on the floor, and someone will walk past and pick it up, were still waiting for you to come girl.
Charlie is really poorly now and I guess sometime soon you going to come and get him? everytime he has a fit we think its going to be his last, but he is fighting.
He is still lively enough to do my bloody head in so dont worry you taught him well.
When the times right you look after Charlie boy, he is old now but will still give you a race for your money girl, you'l see.

with love dear friend
I was standing on a hillside
In a field of blowing wheat,
And the spirit of a Greyhound
Was lying at my feet.
He looked at me with kind dark eyes,
Ancient wisdom shining through.
In the essence of his being,
I saw such love there too.
His mind locked upon my heart
As I stood there on that day,
And he told me of this story
About a place so far away.
As I stood upon that hillside
In a field of blowing wheat,
In a twinkling of a second
His spirit left my feet.
His tale put my heart at ease;
All my fears did fade away
About what lay ahead of me
On another distant day.
"I live among God's creatures now
In the heavens of your mind,
So do not grieve for me my friend,
As I am with my kind.
My collar is a rainbow's hue;
My leash is a shooting star.
My boundaries are the Milky Way
Where I sparkle from afar.
There are no pens or kennels here
For I am not confined,
But I'm free to roam God's heavens
Among the Greyhound kind.
I nap the day on a snowy cloud
Gentle breezes rocking me,
And dream the dreams of earthlings,
And how it used to be.
The trees are full of liver treats,
And tennis balls abound,
And milk bones line the walkways
Just waiting to be found.
There is even a ring set up,
The grass all lush and green;
And everyone who gaits around
Becomes the Best of Breed.
For we're all winners in this place;
We have no faults, you see.
And God passes out those ribbons
To each one, even me.
I drink from waters laced with gold,
My world a beauty to behold;
And wise old dogs form my pride
To amble at my very side.
At night I sleep in an angel's arms,
Her wings protecting me,
And moonbeams dance about us
Just as stardust falls on thee.
So when your life on earth is spent
And you stand at Heaven's gate,
Have no fear of loneliness--
For here, you know, I wait."
The Christmas Greyhound.
The star shone bright, up in the winter sky,
As a lonely Greyhound gave a sigh.
It was so cold out here all on his own,
With no one to love him and give him a home.
He had a home once, if you could call it that,
Lying on cold concrete that made sores on his back.
A gentle hand or kind word he never knew,
Only abuse and the words "you're through".
Then a drive in a van, that left him out here,
Alone and afraid with plenty to fear.
The Greyhound cried out, a pitiful sound,
But no one heard him; there was no one around.
As he made his journey, towards the bright star,
His legs began to weaken, he had already walked so far.
His thin body could no longer fight off the cold,
And as the temperature dropped, it started to snow.
The Greyhound lay down, and his body began to shake,
He knew it wouldn't be long now; he only had to wait,
His sad eyes looked up to the star shining so bright,
It was the last thing he saw before his eyes closed tight.
This Christmas night was sad for him, as death came near,
Another poor Greyhound that will never know Christmas cheer.
In memory of all the poor Greyhounds that never get to enjoy the Christmas spirit,
By Sue Stoddart.
The Noble Greyhound
If you've ever owned a greyhound no other dog will do
The vast rewards that lie in store are waiting just for you
Affection comes from the bottom of the heart
From the day he arrives 'til the day he departs
Something special happens, he knows he's found a friend
And the love that's lavished on you is with you 'til the end
The days when he raced were so full of pride
Not knowing then he'd be just cast aside
You've helped a doomed creature whose use is no more
And the life left behind him has shut like a door
He cannot perform as he did in the past
But a home and some kindness is now his at last
He stands tall and noble, bright eyes check the scene
From birth til death his life is tough, except for you in between
When, if he's really lucky, a person just like you
Will take him home and love him - well, what else can you do?

No More Tears
The time has come for the tears to end
for you to be happy and cheerful again.
I am safe in God's home above
cradled in His arms; covered with His love.
We run and play by the Bridge all day
waiting for the day when you'll be here to stay.
You've been crying so much I feel bad
I want you to be happy and not so sad.
Remember the time when I was so small
I couldn't even pickup the rubber ball.
I fought that ball from morning to night
it made you laugh, I was quite a sight.
Remember teaching me sit and stay
we had such fun since I didn't really obey.
but you kept at it with test after test
so when I entered my first show I was the best.
Remember the great times we had in the past
like when we walked to the park we had a blast.
We'd run and play all through the park
until the sun went down and it got dark.
Remember the times we went for a ride
I was so excited I'd jump right inside.
Away we went to who knows where
but you and I we didn't really care.
I'll always love you, you're my best friend
I'll be right with you even to the end.
Always remember the great times we had
and there will be no reason to ever be sad.

Rest your weary head and drift off into dreams,
Frolic in the sunshine and bathe in God's moonbeams.
Use the stars as stepping-stones to take you to your peace,
The pain of life forgotten now you have found release.
Without rain a flower folds, the petals drop and die,
There was no way to save you, you couldn't even cry.
So we cry all the tears instead as we must let you go
To Heaven, and God's garden to blossom and to grow.
The little seed is planted, you'll be watered every day,
The angels will tend all your needs as in their arms you lay.
Your life will be amazing now and full of wondrous things,
Rest in peace, our dear, sweet rhiannon , go fly on angels wings.
